In the summer of 2005, a group of club calf producers in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley came together to discuss the joint marketing and promotion of show calves and the show cattle industry. After the initial meetings, a group of these individuals decided to form a group to promote the show cattle industry. In August 2005 the official Virginia Club Calf Producers LLC group was formed, with 20 members along a 100 mile stretch of the I-81 corridor.

Our initial goal was to start a club calf sale in the fall each year, which lead to the formation of the Best of the Valley Club Calf Sale in late September, featuring club calves and show steers for sale by our members. We quickly realized that our region needed another outlet for juniors to show their calves and thus, the VCCP Winter Classic was started in 2006. The Winter Classic has grown beyond our wildest initial dreams and is something that, we take great pride in as a group. In March of 2011, we decided to start a new endeavor and planning began on a production type sale to compliment our show calf sale. The Eastern Elite Production Sale was born and is held in conjunction with the VCCP Winter Classic Show the last weekend of January. The sale is a cattleman’s sale with some of the country’s most elite genetics of purebred cattle, show cattle and club calf genetics.

All of our events are held at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
